Introduction to V:

V Rum was founded by husband-and-wife duo Carl Churchill and Nicole Churchill, driven by a desire to create something truly different. V Rum is a premium Great British rum, crafted in the heart of Southampton. Built from the ground up, it’s made with care, responsibility and a belief in doing things the right way, not the easy way.

The name “V” is inspired by the Roman numeral for five, celebrating not only their fifth business venture together, but also the five key steps in the distillation process that give every bottle its character and depth of flavour.

A true modern expression of British rum, shaped by local roots and a commitment to proper craft.

The Origin Story:

It all started in a small builder’s yard with a 500L experimental still named Eugenie. That humble beginning gave Carl and Nicole the space to experiment, refine their approach, and craft a rum they could genuinely be proud of. But they quickly realised that their vision went far beyond a small-scale setup, they wanted to create a distillery that could match their ambition.

After searching for the perfect site, they found their home in Southampton. Today, V Rum is made in the purpose-built distillery designed to bring their ideas to life. From carefully sourcing the finest ingredients, through the five key stages of the rum distillation process, every drop reflects their commitment to craft, quality, and authenticity.

From the very beginning, the goal has been to take Great British rum in a fresh direction, combining skill, creativity, and a progressive approach that moves the category forward. V Rum is more than a spirit; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, bold thinking, and the joy of discovering new flavours in every sip.

Made to be shared and savoured, whatever the occasion.

Crafting Responsibly:

At V Rum, every bottle tells a story of craft and care. As an award-winning Great British rum, crafted and distilled in Hampshire, we set out from the start to make sustainability part of our identity.

We believe great British rum should not only taste exceptional, but be made properly. That means taking responsibility for how it’s produced, not treating it as an afterthought, but building it into every decision we make.

Responsible Distilling: Energy & Process

At our Hampshire distillery, we focus on running a considered, efficient operation. The site is powered by 100% renewable electricity alongside bio gas, helping to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources without compromising on performance.

We’ve also invested in heat recovery systems that capture and reuse energy created during distillation. Instead of letting that energy go to waste, it’s fed back into future production cycles, improving efficiency and reducing overall demand.

Alongside this, we source UK-refined molasses where possible to keep more of the process closer to home and limit unnecessary transport.

It’s a practical approach to eco-conscious distilling, making better use of what we have, reducing waste where we can, and focusing on continuous improvement rather than big bold claims.

Packaging with Purpose: Bespoke Bottles & Natural Labels

Every detail of our packaging is designed with the planet in mind. For example, we launched the first custom-designed pentagon-shaped bottle made from 100% recycled glass, entirely crafted in the UK. This bespoke bottle is as elegant as it is eco-friendly, reducing our carbon footprint without sacrificing style. Even our labels are made from natural plant fibres, incorporating materials like hemp (95%) and linen blend (5%) and our cartons are FSC-certified, locally sourced and about 90% recycled.

We also partner with specialist couriers who ship our rum carefully (preventing breakages) and avoid extra plastic wrapping. By choosing premium yet responsible packaging, we ensure every bottle reflects our commitment to the environment.

Championing British Craft & Community

We’re a proudly British brand, and supporting local craft is at our core. Being based in Eastleigh Hampshire, we work closely with nearby businesses, building lasting partnerships that celebrate the region’s talent. Because we control production on-site, we can ensure every drop of rum is made conscientiously – from fermentation to distillation, allowing us to keep the quality high and carbon miles low, as we bottle in Liphook Hampshire. By investing in UK resources, V Rum is leading the way in sustainable British rum-making and helping build a responsible craft spirits community for the future.

Our Mission

We’re committed to transparency and continual improvement in everything we do. Our mission is simple: to craft exceptional British rum that not only tastes amazing, but balances affordable luxury with authenticity and responsible practises.

At V Rum, leading the way in sustainable Great British rum isn’t just a choice – it’s who we are.
